Governing Council 2026
Last week, we held our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and celebrated the 2025 year.
Learning Updates from across the school:
| Learning Update from each area across the school | |
| Pre School | We have been settling in and making new friends.
We are very excited about our upcoming incursion with Glenn the Junk Man! |
| Early Years - Rooms 6, 7 and 8 | In Room 6 and 7, we have been focusing on building positive relationships between staff and students, as well as encouraging strong connections between students through play-based activities. We are also using Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) lessons to explicitly teach and reinforce expected behaviours at school.
In Room 8, we have been looking at our class agreements using our PBL values of be kind, safe and resilient to create a positive learning environment. We have also been spending a significant amount of time on Dfe spelling placement testing. |
| Primary Years (Rooms 9, 11, 12 | In Room 11, we have had a fantastic start to the year. We have been focusing on our school values of being Kind, Safe, and Resilient. We, as a class, have outlined what a successful classroom looks like and how we can make Room 11 a place for positive and supportive learning. We are all looking forward to the year ahead!
In Room 12, we have been focussing on creating a positive learning environment and exploring how we can demonstrate the school values within our classroom, what students are looking forward to this year and strategies that help them learn. Students have enjoyed creating an abstract self-portait that expresses their own interests and identity.
In Room 9, we’ve had a wonderful start to the year. We have been creating a positive learning environment and focusing on our school values. Students have enjoyed the numerous activities which showcase them and their personalities. It’s going to be a positive and successful year in Room 9 with new and old connections being made. |
| Primary Special Class | The special class currently comprises two students. They will be integrated into Room 9 with support from both the special class teacher and an SSO. The focus of this arrangement is to foster positive social connections with peers while continuing to meet each student’s individual learning goals within a mainstream setting. |
| Specialists | PE In weeks 1-2, we unpacked how we can demonstrate the school values within the PE context, students were introduced to the rules and routines in place during PE lessons. We enjoyed playing a teamwork based game where students had to ‘cross the river’ without touching the floor. This was a tricky challenge that required students to work collaboratively with each other.
|
Technologies In Technologies we have been practising routines and expectations in the STEM space. Early years students have explored a range of construction based activities and primary and upper students have been practising “thinking like an inventor/designer”.
| |
Japanese Early Years students have been learning some basic facts about Japan as well as greetings. Primary and Upper students have been studying Japanese New Year customs and phrases, set goals for learning this year, and have begun weekly hiragana practice.
