Welcome!
A warm welcome to all members of our community from our Pastoral Leaders, House Patrons, Counsellors, and Homeroom teams. It is great to see so many smiling faces of students and relieved parents as students both begin and continue their Pastoral Care journey and story through the College.
Every year at school is a busy year that offers challenges and opportunities. I summon each student to take on the challenges to create opportunities to flourish here at St Pius X College.
Thankyou for your engagement at this week’s information evenings. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact your son’s Pastoral leader.
Parent Information Evenings
Thank you to all members of our community who have supported and engaged with these opportunities for communication in support of your sons' wellbeing, learning and pastoral care journeys through the school. Our Pastoral Leaders, Pastoral Care Teams and Counsellors invest significant time and resources in supporting your sons development, and we appreciate your feedback and communication to this end. The student diary, email and CANVAS provide rich opportunities for communication, listening, goal setting, and learning. All of these are designed to be accessible to all members of our learning community.
Peer Support for Year 5, 7 and 11 facilitated by Mr Dalton and Mr Ticli supported by Mr Maloney and Mr Naidoo
The Peer Support Program commenced on Monday 2 February during Period 4 to support students' transition into Year 5 and Year 7 at St Pius X. The program runs on a weekly rotation with Year 11 Peer Support Leaders mentoring a group of Year 5 or 7 students to develop the social, emotional and learning skills required for successfully negotiating their commencement learning across the school year. The program will conclude in Term 2, with a session and lunch at Beauchamp Park at the end of Week 1 Term 2.
Punctuality Matters
Being on time is a vital part of personal responsibility and respect for learning. Students are expected to be at school by 8:30 am each morning, ready for Homeroom.
If a student is late without a reason they will report to their Pastoral Leader at recess
If a student is late three times in a term, a conversation will be held with their Pastoral Leader to address the concern.
Further breaches will result in a Friday afternoon detention during that term.
Partial Absence procedure. Sentral has developed a new feature for parents
Parents can now submit timed absence requests such as late arrivals and early departures directly through the Parent Portal and App. Previously, only full-day absences could be lodged, which often caused inconvenience for families and additional follow up. This enhancement provides clearer, more accurate attendance information and reduces the need for manual adjustments.
When entering an absence, choose late or early as the option and enter the time and reason for the absence.
Students are still required to check in at Student Reception upon arrival to the College. Early leavers will still require a ‘leave slip’ which will be processed by Student Management after parents have notified the College via the Parent Portal.
