On Friday 5 December, Year 6 enjoyed a fabulous day at Narrawallee Beach with the team from Walking on Water.
The students got some expert coaching on the tips and tricks of surfing, before hitting the water to catch some waves. Students also participated in an education session where they learned about what rips are, what to do if they get caught in one and how to save someone that is in trouble in the water. Students then put their rescue skills to work as they practiced saving each other from the surf. There was lots of laughter at the many surfboard wipe outs, and also some huge smiles and cheering from the students that managed to get to their feet and successfully catch some waves to the shore. A huge thankyou to Simon and the team from walking on Water for your expertise and encouragement on the day. We all had a lot of fun!

A little while ago in Term 2, NCS hosted the Shoalhaven Zone Primary Schools Chess Competition. We had 4 teams entered with 4 players in each team playing against 16 other teams from 5 local schools. Each player scores one point for a win, 0 points for a loss and 0.5 for a draw or stalemate. Our 'A' team managed a very creditable second on the day, a great achievement. Our board 1 (best player) on that team, Jashraj T, managed to be the high scorer on the day with a score of 6.5 out of 7 games. Congratulations Jash for some very skilled playing.
On Tuesday 2 December, the youngest members of our school put their road safety knowledge to the test. They passed with flying colours. They were delightful drivers, patient pedestrians, skilful scooterists and peaceful passengers, as they drove their cardboard cars, walked through the school car park, rode around the scooter circuit and caught the school bus.
Our bus driver was none other than the incredible Mr Hefferan. He patiently drove six bus loads of students around the streets of South Nowra and back to school via the McDonald’s drive through.
Thanks Mr Hefferan, we appreciated your time and expertise. It was a wonderful event with the students enthusiastically participating in the different activities.

When recent strong winds blew over recycling bins in Worrigee, countless bin loads of rubbish ended up in Worrigee Nature Reserve. On Tuesday 9 December, Year 10 students assisted Emily, a NSW National Parks ranger, to clean up a large section of bush only a stone's throw from our schools back fence.
Emily spoke to students about waste management and the unique flora and fauna found around Worrigee. Following this, students walked down to the clean up site and got to work, quickly filling a small mountains worth of bags with rubbish.
Despite the hot weather, students got on with the job with cheerful spirits and made a huge difference in a short space of time.
Well done Year 10 and thanks Emily for visiting our school and assisting with the process!

On Thursday 4 December, 5G and 1D came together to talk about the greatest gift ever given to us. Everyone enjoyed a short nativity video which showed how excited everyone was to know that Jesus is finally here.
Students enjoyed some finger painting creating artworks together before an exciting game together. Everyone split into their house groups for a race of 'Under and Over' with Sinai proving victorious.
5G enjoyed sharing their time with their buddies creating memories together celebrating the joy of Jesus's birth.
Prakshi: My favourite part was doing the finger painting with my buddy.
Ben: My favourite par was when my buddy showed me his little pet dinosaur.
Georgia: I loved doing the finger painting with my buddy.
Lu: I loved the game we played outside together!
Alicia: I really liked the games we played with our buddies.
