Be Kind

Be Responsible

Be an Active Learner

We’ve had a wonderful start to the school year, with students settling beautifully into their new classes and embracing the routines of school life. Last Tuesday we were thrilled to welcome our new Prep cohort, who are already showing great confidence as they begin their school journey. We extend a very warm welcome to all of our new families joining the SMPPS community in 2026.

EXCITING NEWS!!

We are delighted to share that our school has been awarded a generous $30,000 grant from the Tom Ashmor Foundation, an Australian charity dedicated to expanding STEM opportunities for young learners. The Tom Ashmor Foundation honours Tom’s legacy as a technologist, entrepreneur, mentor and family man. Their mission is to give Australian public schools the tools they need to ignite imagination and innovation in every student, so they can pursue their STEM dreams just like Tom did.

This funding will significantly enhance our ability to provide hands‑on science, technology, engineering and mathematics experiences for our students, ensuring they have access to high‑quality resources that spark curiosity, creativity and problem‑solving. We are deeply grateful for the foundation’s support and its commitment to helping all children thrive in STEM learning.

Here is the official launch at which our school captains, Evie and Sam, accompanied me to accept the grant: https://tomashmorfoundation.org.au/launch

TERRACE ENHANCEMENTS

Over the holidays, we installed synthetic turf on the terrace, and it has completely transformed the space. It now offers a welcoming, comfortable area where our Prep and Year One students can enjoy eating and playing.

EARLY ARRIVALS

We have noticed an increasing number of students arriving at school before supervision begins at 8.45am. For your child’s safety, please ensure they arrive after 8.45am when staff are available to supervise. If you need to drop your child off earlier, please book them into TheirCare. Families will be notified by email if their child arrives before supervision begins. Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping our students safe.

ARRANGMENTS DURING THE AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX (AGP)

From Monday, 16th February to 20th March, Lakeside carpark will be closed.

Alternative Drop Off Arrangements

Where possible, please consider travelling to and from school on foot, bike or scooter, or on public transport. Should you need to drive due to disability, inclement weather, etc., please note the KISS AND DROP system that will be in place for the morning drop off:

  1. Car enters Albert Rd Drive South, and will be directed to drive right to the end
  2. Car does U-turn and pulls into next available parking bay ready to kiss and drop (please drive forward toward the entrance to fill the parking bays and allow others to park behind you),
  3. All children to exit car on the footpath side of the car. This is to ensure that children are not stepping out into on-coming traffic (parent/carer may need to assist young children)
  4. Staff support children from the footpath into the school grounds
  5. Car promptly exits service road to Albert Rd, to allow next car to park

Please note, you will not be permitted to park your car and leave it in the morning

Alternative Pick Up Arrangements

Where possible parents are encouraged to consider travelling on foot, bike or scooter, or on public transport, when collecting their child/ren. If you need to drive due to a disability, you will be able to access the disabled parking at the front of the school. After school, there will be limited spaces in which to park for 5 minutes, in front of the school. If those parking bays are full, you will need to drive further down Aughtie Drive, where there will be an additional 4 car spaces. Alternatively, you will need to use street parking.
