First Holy Communion

Congratulations to our Year 4 students who received the sacrament of Holy Communion on 18 August. May you always feel the loving presence of God and may this First Holy Communion be the beginning of a lifelong journey of faith.

A prayer for our fathers and the remarkable men in our lives who guide and care for us like fathers.

A Prayer for Fathers

Heavenly Father,

you entrusted your Son Jesus,

the child of Mary,

to the care of Joseph, an earthly father.

Bless all fathers 

as they care for their families.

Give them strength and wisdom,

tenderness and patience;

support them in the work they have to do,

protecting those who look to them,

as we look to you for love and salvation,

through Jesus Christ our rock and defender.

World day of Prayer for Creation

The Season of Creation is an annual global Christian celebration, uniting us in prayer and action to address the cry of Creation. It begins with the World Day of Prayer for Creation on September 1st and concludes on October 4th, on the Feast Day of Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology. 

This season draws inspiration from Saint Francis and from Pope Francis' landmark encyclical, Laudato Si’—Care for Our Common Home, which urges "every person living on this planet" to care for our shared Earth. Below is a prayer from the conclusion of Pope Francis' encyclical.

A Prayer for Our Earth – Pope Francis Laudato Si’

All-powerful God, 

you are present in the whole universe

and in the smallest of your creatures.

You embrace with your tenderness all that exists.

Pour out upon us the power of your love,

that we may protect life and beauty.

Fill us with peace, that we may live 

as brothers and sisters, harming no one.

O God of the poor, help us to rescue 

the abandoned and forgotten of this earth,

so precious in your eyes.

Bring healing to our lives, 

that we may protect the world and not prey on it,

that we may sow beauty, not pollution and destruction.

Touch the hearts of those who look only for gain

at the expense of the poor and the earth.

Teach us to discover the worth of each thing,

to be filled with awe and contemplation,

to recognise that we are profoundly united

with every creature as we journey towards your infinite light.

We thank you for being with us each day.

Encourage us, we pray, in our struggle

for justice, love and peace.

We pray that political leaders be at the service of their own people, working for integral human development and for the common good, especially caring for the poor and those who have lost their jobs, and giving priority to the poor.
