CAMPING PROGRAM CONTINUES - MELBOURNE YEAR 6

WEDNESDAY 4TH TO FRIDAY 6TH SEPTEMBER 2024

The Year 6 students and teachers are incredibly excited about attending the Melbourne Camp in three weeks’ time. Students and staff will really enjoy the city life and experience of public transport.

There's lots of fantastic activities planned and it will be such a learning experience and an opportunity for the children to experience independence.

They will learn a great deal about themselves whilst out of their comfort zones. Please ensure that all Medical and Consent forms are completed and returned in advance.

SCIENCE WEEK - 12TH TO 16TH AUGUST 2024

The school theme for National Science Week in 2024 is Species Survival - More than just sustainability.

The theme aims to highlight the importance of science and innovation in ensuring the survival and thriving of different species in an ever-changing world.

We are incredibly fortunate at Warrnambool Primary School to have Ms Hann as our Science specialist teacher across our school. Each week our students are involved in theoretical and practical experiments in a range of Scientific areas.

OLYMPIC CELEBRATIONS - YEAR 1 AND 2

Written by Lorel Russell 2B

Last week the Year 1 and 2 students took part in the Mini Olympic Games. The events were silent ball, sock toss, paper plate discus and cotton ball shot put. Today we held the Mini Olympic ceremony to present the medals to the winners. Mr.Lee, Ms.Toone and Dave presented the medals and Mrs. Marris presented the flowers.

A big thank you to Kohan and his dad for making the podium. Kohan was given the honour of lighting the Olympic cauldron. The teachers made this using the air filter machine it looked amazing!

Everyone was a great sport and participated showing the Olympic spirit. We all enjoyed the Games and will always remember this special day.

GYMNASIUM WORKS

Works commenced this week on the school Gynamsium. Temporary fencing and scaffolding were erected earlier in the week and builders have already begun removing the walls in the gym and foyer area. The stump that was in front of the bike shed has been removed to make way for crushed rock to ensure emergency access is still available onto the school grounds.

Students within our Year 3 classrooms have front row seats and have remained focussed during the works but have thoroughly enjoyed the progress.

VISITORS FROM MIURA, JAPAN

On Wednesday we were lucky to host visiting high school students from Warrnambool’s sister city Miura.

Year 6 students enjoyed playing games with flashcards to revise language they are learning to talk about places they went in the past and asking our visitors lots of questions about Japan.

Foundation students impressed the visitors with their singing of Japanese songs and played the game ‘Oni wa doko desu ka’ (where is the Oni - a mythical creature that appears in many Japanese folktales).

FOOTY BREAKFAST 2024 - NOW BBQ/SAUSAGE SIZZLE LUNCH

FRIDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER 2024

Due to the Gym refurbishment the Fundraising committee at it's meeting on Tuesday night decided to make it a footy lunch - BBQ/ Sausage Sizzle for students on the last day of Term 3. Unfortuantely it won't be the big event we're used to but we will still make it an enjoyable day for our students.

Students are encouraged to where they can wear their favourite colours.

We do however wish to revert back to a breakfast in the future.

Thank you for your understanding.

More information on how to order will be provided closer to the date.

BUNNINGS SAUSAGE SIZZLE - SUNDAY 15TH SEPTEMBER 2024

We are very fortunate that we have been allocated the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle on Sunday 15th September 2024. The fundraising committee is calling for volunteers to assist with the cooking, serving and money-collection.

If you are able to spare an hour please register at the following link https://compasstix.com/event/7ef41524-cc08-4b6b-b3bb-b8c016b4430e or contact Skye Nichols in the office on 5561 5955.

If you can’t help and you’re in the area drop in and buy some lunch.

Every little bit helps and we hope that this event raises much needed funds for our great school.

Have a great weekend.
