Hello, from Carolyn.
Respect, responsibility and kindness
Hello everyone,
School Disco.
A massive thank you to our Parents & Friends group and an extra round of applause to Sal, for organising such a great night for our students. Thank you to the parents/carers and staff who also helped on the night, having extra people around to assist on the night certainly helped things go smoothly.
There is a page of fabulous disco photos to enjoy in this week's newsletter. A big thank you to https://www.jesswhitephotography.com/ for taking so many wonderful images on the night that truly capture the joy and fun our students were having. (Check out the couple of trouble makers in the photo above!)
Hats time!
School Council recently approved our updated Sunsmart policy. We now start wearing our hats in Term 3 to fit with when the UV levels reach 3 or higher. You might like to add the Sunsmart Global UV app to your phone so you can check UV levels and know when you need to seek shade, or wear a hat and put on sunscreen too.
All our students will need their school sunsmart hat at school from Monday 9th.
Please check your child's hat and make sure it is in good repair. We want our students to show respect for their school uniform and part of that is making sure it is neat and tidy and cared for. If your child needs a replacement hat, you could check out second hand uniform items or purchase a new hat. When purchasing a new hat, please ensure it is either a broad brimmed hat or bucket hat, and is navy or purple.
Sunscreen is provided in our classrooms for students to use, and teachers give regular reminders to apply sunscreen. Students are most welcome to bring their own sunscreen to school to use.
Shakespeare in Schools "Just Romeo and Juliet' performance.
We have the very talented Shakespeare in Schools performers coming back to our school on Monday. We were fortunate to receive a grant to help cover the cost of having the performance here so there is no cost to our students.
I received an email from one of the performers this week confirming the visit details and also saying how much they had enjoyed visiting our school last year- how engaged, excited and respectful our students were and how the visit to our school was one of the highlights of their year. Fabulous feedback for our students and school!
Glasses4Kids program.
Our Foundation to year 3 students will be bringing home information about the free Glasses4Kids program and a consent form. All students in Foundation to year 3 can have their eyes tested at no cost, and if they require glasses, they will also receive these at no cost.
Gypsy, Theo, Claire and Tilly have asked me to pass on this 'Thank you' letter from the Australian Conservation Foundation. Your child might have been one of our many students who contributed to the fundraiser that Gypsy, Claire, Tilly and Theo organised.
Change to calendar format in newsletter.
If you regularly read the calendar in our newsletter you will notice I have changed the format. Let me know which you prefer- the new 'list' format or the one that is more like a calendar.
It was great to catch up with a small group of parents and carers at our coffee catch up Thursday morning. Keep an eye out for next term's catch up.
Have a great weekend everyone
warm regards,
Carolyn.
