In the Kitchen with Chris

This week Grade P/1  made Rice Noodles and Asian Greens and Ginger Sauce and Creamy Butternut Pumpkin Sauce.

From the garden we used Pak Choy, Spigarello, Mizuna, Silverbeet, Celery, Parsley, Pumpkin, Garlic and Coriander.

To make the Rice Noodles, everyone  had a turn to measure and mix the rice flour and tapioca and slowly add the water as they whisked the mixture.  They watched the rice noodles steam and had to check when they were ready.  After the cooked mixture cooled, they carefully cut them into strips.

Marcus’ group did a great job cutting the pumpkin and garlic and baking it.  They cut the parsley and grated the cheese and mixed a great sauce to make the Creamy Pumpkin sauce.

To make the Asian Greens and Ginger Sauce, students had to dry the greens, trim the stalks and cut them into small even pieces.  They also learnt how to grate the ginger and roll and cut the leaves into small pieces. Ella and her group cooked the ginger and greens as they were ready and made a delicious sauce to add to the greens.

Everyone tried the rice noodles and both of the sauces they made. Pete said he loved the Rice Noodles and Asian Greens and Ginger Sauce. Albi said he loved the noodles he made. Well done everyone!
