Vinnies Winter Appeal: Last Chance for donations is Monday 9th September
Our Student Leaders have been pushing their House Trolley around over the past few weeks collecting the generous donations from our community.
There are house points up for grabs for every item that is donated. As of the start of this week we have received the following:
Delany - 312 items (savvy bulk shoppers!)
Augustine - 239 items
Brigidine 149 items
This equates to just over one item per student currently enrolled at our College.
The last chance for donations to be brought to school is next Monday, 9th September.
Non-perishable food items and winter woollies are greatly needed by locals doing it tough. Please give generously, if you can.
Student Leadership Positions for 2025
The process for appointing our 2025 Student Leadership Team is well underway. We were delighted to have 67 students across Year 11, Year 7 and Year 3 submit applications and have been incredibly impressed by the quality of application letters that have been written and speeches that have been delivered! We look forward to making an announcement in the coming weeks.
Caring for Our Common Home - Help us to Leave No Trace
In recent weeks, we have received some feedback from members of our local community about the litter that escapes from our site. We are working hard to teach our young people to dispose of their waste mindfully and have plenty of bins located around the College.
When we look at the waste that is being strewn about, it is things like chip packets, yoghurt pouches and snap lock bags. Our College Canteen has taken great steps forward in reducing waste and so we invite families and students to consider packing snacks in re-usable containers, thereby minimising our consumption and the potential for littering to occur. Please have a conversation with your child at home about this and encourage them to ‘Leave No Trace’.
A Prayer for World Day of Creation
On Monday - The World Day of Creation, Mrs Shannon (7-12 Religious Education Leader) provided a lovely prayer for our students to experience during TA time:
Dear God,
Today we celebrate the wonderful world You made for us. Thank You for the beautiful trees, colourful flowers, and all the amazing animals. We love the stars in the sky and the big, blue oceans.
Help us take good care of the Earth and all the creatures You created. Teach us to keep our world clean and to be kind to every living thing. Show us how to recycle, save water and make choices that help the planet.
Help us to remember that taking care of Your creation is important and a way to show our love for You. Thank You for giving us such a wonderful home.
We pray this through Jesus, who made everything with You.
Amen
