Nude Food

IF IT IS NOT NUDE FOOD THEN IT’S JUST RUDE DUDE! …or so say 1/2CD!

What a thrill it has been to have one of our junior classes (1/2CD) initiate and drive a big push for “nude food” in our school.

This happened in a recent Forest School session where we discussed how we could reduce and perhaps even eliminate the huge problem we have at school with plastic litter.

Students decided that we needed to start to really encourage everyone to leave the food wrappers at home and bring food “IN THE NUDE”…the FOOD that is.

We would never presume to tell families what to choose for school lunches; the message is NOT don’t bring a muesli bar or chips (that’s your choice)  but rather, leave the wrapper at home and place the muesli bar, popcorn, chips, sandwiches, wraps etc in a reusable container or wax wrap or similar. If it doesn’t come to school, then it cannot accidentally fall out of someone’s pocket during play and it certainly cannot be dragged out onto the ground by the naughty bin-diving ravens to create a tsunami of plastic waste floating around our school and off into the waterways to become microplastic fish food!

You will start to see lots of posters around the school to remind everyone in our school community to pull together for success in our plan.

Thank you so much for your support of our awesome students in this very positive initiative.
