French excursion to Étienne concert

Last Friday, our Year 8 to Year 10 students had the incredible opportunity to attend a concert by Étienne, a Canadian former teacher who creates and performs songs to teach French vocabulary and grammar.

The students had an amazing time singing along and practising their French in a fun and engaging way. It was a fantastic experience that brought language learning to life!

Science Week in Secondary School

Our Secondary Science Week was a lot of fun! Each day was packed with engaging activities that sparked curiosity and excitement. Students participated in daily quizzes and amazing races, challenging their knowledge across Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, and Earth Science.

The "Guess the T-shirt Competition" added an extra layer of fun, keeping everyone on their toes. All these activities resulted in a truly dynamic Science Week.

Earthquake experiment

Secondary students were given an Earthquake Assignment, which encouraged them to design a building resistant to an earthquake.

Specifically, they were told they could only use cardboard, no staples or glue, with base dimensions no greater than 20cm x 20cm, not weighing more than 1.5kg and with a minimum of five storeys.

To our delight, amazing designs stood the test of time on our earthquake machine. The winners, Nathan M and Hayden T, withstood a mega 8.0 richer scale earthquake (quite a tsunami-type magnitude)!

VET Study - is that for me?

VET study is designed for students looking to get skilled quickly for the workplace. Courses are available in various industries, including Defence Industries, Creative Arts, Business, Hospitality and more!

A number of courses are available for students to access while at school, while others are post-school with no/minimal prerequisites. VET study is great for students who enjoy a more hands-on style of learning.

If you are interested in a course in the VET space and would like to know more, TAFE are holding a number of Info Sessions you can attend. This is an opportunity to meet lecturers, discuss study options, and ask course-related questions to help guide you in what options are available.

Find details and register here: https://www.tafesa.edu.au/courses/info-sessions

Please see me for any questions.

The trades are still experiencing huge skills shortages. Achieving an apprenticeship provides an excellent foundation for a range of careers, not only 'on the tools' but also in business ownership and project management.

A trade is a fulfilling career; however, choosing which trade can be a daunting task. Every trade has its perks and benefits, and there’s much to consider before you begin training.

Have a look here for a clear explanation of each trade and a comparison between similar trades.
