A Memorable ATAR Recital: Celebrating Exceptional Talent

Last Thursday evening our ATAR music students delivered a recital that showcased their exceptional talents in an intimate setting, enjoyed by a select group of family and friends.

Howard Shen began with a technically brilliant piano performance, setting a high standard with his precise and engaging interpretation. Amelia O’Keefe followed with a solo violin performance that demonstrated both technical prowess and effortless grace, captivating the audience with her skilful and elegant playing. Joshua Conigliaro then impressed with a clarinet solo, highlighting his remarkable musicality and depth of expression. Nicole Li’s emotive piano performance added a profound layer to the evening, while Aaron Ooi concluded with a thoughtfully crafted violin performance, providing a fitting and memorable finish.

This talented cohort has demonstrated incredible dedication and skill, and we eagerly anticipate their future successes in music.

ASC Jazz Students' Superb Performance at WAAPA Festival and Ellington Jazz Night

August has been a very busy month for jazz students at ASC, as both our jazz ensembles performed at the WA Schools Jazz Festival held at WAAPA on Sunday 11 August, and at our annual ASC Jazz Night at the Ellington Jazz Club on Monday August 19.

The Jazz Festival proved to be an excellent showcase of our ensemble’s abilities, with Jazz Saints being awarded the highest possible grade of ‘Outstanding’ in the Division 1 category, and Swingin’ Saints achieving an ‘Excellent’ grade in their combo division. Special mention goes to vocalist Ebonnie Knight who performed with the Jazz Saints at relatively late notice and gave a superb performance of some very challenging vocal tunes.

Only a week later our jazz ensemble’s Ellington performance was a special night that paid special tribute to the achievements of our five departing Year 12 students: Ayush Atre, Jack Augustin, Aaron Ooi, Joshua Conigliaro and Olivia Loke. The intimate surrounds of the Ellington provided the perfect backdrop for our group’s performances, and we were also thrilled to welcome to the stage guest artist and multi-instrumentalist Lachlan Glover who performed with and inspired our musicians.

Well done to all our ASC jazz students for your outstanding performances and for representing our College with pride!
