Join Fiona McArthur, author of As the River Rises and The Opal Miner's Daughter, as she presents her new book, Back to Birdsville. Drawing from her experience as a rural midwife, Fiona shares her love of working with women, families, and health professionals in her compassionate, pacey fiction. Her stories beautifully mesh the Australian landscape with warm, funny, multigenerational characters, highlighting the challenges and strengths of rural and remote families.

Discover an uplifting and feel-good read with Kate Solly’s debut novel, where crochet and community come together in a vibrant tale of resistance against bigotry and racism.

Kate will share her inspiration behind the book, insights into her writing process, and stories about her colourful and relatable characters.

Books will be available for purchase and signing at the event. Enjoy light refreshments and connect with fellow book lovers.

Tiny Art Show 2024

Don't forget to get your entry into the Tiny Art Show by the end of August!

Express yourself in any way you choose. From paintings and sculptures to poetry and short stories, all visual and written mediums are welcome. This is your opportunity to let your artistic voice be heard, and we want to see your artistic creativity shine.

How to Enter

  1. Collect your postcard from any Indigo Shire Library branch from Saturday 1 June 2024.
  2. Get inspired by the theme Indigo Impressions and create your masterpiece.
  3. Label your artwork with your name and title of the work.
  4. One entry per person
  5. Submit your entry to any Indigo Shire Library branch before 12:30 pm Saturday 31 August 2024.

The Tiny Art Show will be on display in our libraries for all to see—stay tuned for exhibition dates.
