Another action packed fortnight in Grade 3 with lots of fun and interesting activities!
For Inquiry we are continuing to learn about forces with the focus this week being on gravity. The students learned how far they could jump on different planets. Lets just say apart from the heat, the Sun would not be a good place to have a game of basketball!
In Writing, we are re-visiting narratives looking for ways that we can add detail to our work using the senses to describe events.
In Maths we are setting up for a measurement project so have been revising units of measurement and measuring distances and times.
Book Week
A wonderful effort was put in by the Grade 3 students for the annual book week assembly and parade. A big thankyou to the school community for making this happen. The day was topped off by a visit from author Nicky Johnston who spent time explaining how she goes about creating stories and illustrations.
Inquiry Materials
Next week students will be beginning the first part of our design project. As mentioned last time if you could keep an eye out for any lids or items that could be used as wheels, please grab them before they head into the bin and have your child bring them to school in a zip lock bag. As the project progresses there might be more materials from home that could be recycled but we don't want to give too much away yet.
We have been busy in the last two weeks in Year Four. Have a look what has been happening.
In Inquiry, we have been learning about the Respiratory and Nervous Systems.
We were lucky enough to have a visit from Nicky Johnston illustrator of numerous books, including 'Jorn's Magnificent Imagination'. Nicky was kind enough to show the students how she illustrated this book.
Thanks to Mr Walsh for his amazing variety of Sport and PE incursions. He organised some wonderful students from the AFL program at SEDA College to come and run an AFL session for us.
Thank you to all the Parents, Carers, students and staff who made our annual Book Week parade such a huge success. The Year Four team dressed up as characters from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
