Visual Art News
In Visual Art this week we have been working hard to complete a few pieces for the upcoming Expo afternoon next week.
Foundation students completed soma amazing mechanical minibeasts out of pipes, springs, screws, cogs and gears (PASTA) and painted them gold and silver to complete the look. Come a long to the Expo and see these incredible creations for yourself.
Grades one and two students completed some fabulous steampunk robots and lots of these are displayed in the hallway outside room three. Look out for those.
Grades three to six learned a brand-new printing technique in collagraph printing. The process involves rolling block printing ink onto yoga mat rubber, placing objects on top of the ink, pressing with scrap paper to create a firm imprint on the ink, removing the objects and then placing cartridge paper on top and burnishing well to leave an impression of the items. It is a very effective and fun method of printing. Have a look at Elouise’s fabulous effort.
Grades five and six students were exceptionally happy to see a brand-new set of Posca artist markers. There was a flurry of activity at the “Posca” table and lots of new projects were started. Check out a few of them here.
We hope to see you all next Thursday in the Art space for a fun and interactive steampunk themed activity.
