Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

Catering to the needs of our students

During Term Two, Macedon Primary School's staff dedicated significant time to enhancing differentiation in the classroom. With the wide range of abilities present in each class, our teachers focused on providing tailored support to meet individual learning needs. This approach involves offering both extension opportunities for advanced students and support prompts for those who need extra help.

Differentiation is essential in recognising and valuing the unique strengths and challenges of each student. By adopting strategies that cater to various learning styles and paces, our teachers ensure that every student is both challenged and supported. Staff engaged in research and professional development to identify best practices, enabling them to effectively differentiate their teaching methods.

The impact of these efforts has been evident in improved student engagement and achievement. Students who previously struggled are becoming more confident and involved, while those requiring more advanced work are appropriately challenged. This balanced approach ensures that all students have the opportunity to excel.

As we move forward, Macedon Primary School remains committed to refining our differentiation practices. By continuously exploring new strategies and methods, we aim to create a supportive learning environment where every student feels valued and empowered to reach their full

Inclusive Playground Update

We are excited to share that we have received the initial design for our new inclusive learning space! The school council will review these designs at the next meeting. Once approved, we will begin the tender process, moving us one step closer to bringing this project to life. If everything goes according to plan, we hope to start construction toward the end of Term 4.

The planned inclusive learning space features a brand-new playground next to the portable classroom and an outdoor learning area under the shade sail. This area will include a synthetic turf surface, seating, and interactive play panels. Additionally, we aim to create seating areas in front of the garden beds situated between the playground and the outdoor learning area.

We are committed to keeping our school community informed and will share the approved plans as soon as they are finalised. We look forward to creating a space where all our students can learn, play, and thrive together.

Movie Day This Friday!

This Friday, we are excited to hold our annual Movie Day, and our students are eagerly looking forward to it! Our Grade 6 Leaders have been working hard to organize this fun-filled event, which will also help raise funds for additional play and sports equipment for the school.

Each year level will have the opportunity to watch a movie in the JCB, with movies selected based on student surveys to ensure everyone enjoys the experience.

We encourage students to wear their pyjamas for the day and bring a gold coin donation to support our fundraising efforts. They can also bring a small cushion to sit on (please, no bean bags) and a healthy snack, such as popcorn, in addition to their regular lunch.

We’re looking forward to a fantastic day of fun, learning, and community spirit!

Drone Showreel!

Last week, Julie Stein-Reeves attended the Bendigo and District Business Manager's Conference, where she won an exciting prize for our school—a Drone Showreel!

In early spring, The School Photographer will be visiting Macedon Primary to create this special showreel, capturing stunning aerial footage of our school and its surroundings. We can’t wait to share the final video with our school community!

Planning for the 2025 School Year

As we begin preparations for the 2025 school year, we need accurate student numbers to ensure we have adequate staffing and resources in place. If your child is planning to leave Macedon Primary School at the end of 2024, please notify the school office as soon as possible.

Your cooperation will help us create the best possible learning environment for all students. We appreciate your support as we plan for another successful year at Macedon Primary School!

Sunsmart

We would like to remind everyone that our SunSmart period has officially started. As part of our commitment to keeping our students safe from harmful UV exposure, all students are now required to wear a sun-protective hat when they are outdoors.

Heartfelt Condolences

Our heartfelt condolences go out to Jarli, a foundation student at our school, Nataasja and the extended Agresta- Saville family on the passing of your beloved husband and dad, Justin. Our thoughts are with you all at this extremely difficult time.

Warm regards,
