Central Schools Sporting Carnival
Uralla Central School had a successful week in Dubbo at the Central Schools sporting carnival. We had many teams qualify for this event earlier in the year - Opens boys and girls touch football, under 16s boys and girls touch football, opens and under 16s girls netball and under 16s boys rugby league.
Our under 16s boys received silver medals in touch and rugby league and our under 16s girls received silver medals in the Netball. Eve Shanahan was also awarded MVP in the under 16s netball which is an amazing achievement. It is also worth noting that this was the first time we had girls qualify for touch football in quite some time.
All of our students represented themselves and the school admirably. The owners from the caravan park in Dubbo where we stayed were most pleased with the behaviour and conduct of Uralla Central School and have told us that we are always welcome at their facility.
We are gaining a lot of momentum as a school with our sport and we are looking forward to building on our achievements in the coming years.
White Card Course
On Friday August 16, nine students travelled to Armidale Secondary College (ASC) to participate in General Construction Induction training – commonly known as the White Card. This qualification is a SafeWork NSW requirement for anyone to participate in work on a construction site. The training was organised and funded by the Department of Education’s Educational Pathways Program (EPP).
The students were Samuel Johnson, Rian Blackwell, Brandon Risk, Matthew Leggett, Oliver Cole, Cooper Taggart, David Kpayah, Antwon Leonard and Johnathan Kpayah. The boys will now be able to participate in work experience and/or apply for employment in related industries.
Congratulations boys and thank you for your excellent participation.
