Principal's Report
League and Netball Success
Congratulations to our team of students who attended the state knockouts last week in Dubbo. Our students achieved runners up in the Under 16's in the league and netball competitions. Special congratulations to Eve Shanahan for being awarded Most Valuable Player (MVP)! We have received amazing feedback about our students' behaviour and sportsmanship from the Dubbo area. This is such great feedback.
Thank you to our teachers Dylan Smith, Jason Auld, Tash Gregory and Sam Brown for supervising our students for the excursion. What a great result everyone.
Being Prepared For Every Lesson
I would like to remind our middle and senior students that they need to bring their required equipment to every lesson. This means, bringing pens, pencils, books, calculators etc. We are seeing a number of students arriving to class without the necessary items to complete their work. If parents could please ensure their children have their equipment, this would be most helpful. Thanks for your cooperation.
NAIDOC Week at Uralla Central
Thanks to our staff for making our NAIDOC Week activities such a success yesterday. Thanks also to the many parents and members of our school community for coming along to join us on the day. It was also nice to welcome our local small school students and staff from Rocky River, Kingstown and Kentucky Public Schools.
New School Captains for 2025
This week, students in Academy I will have the opportunity to speak with students from Years 6-Academy in support of their application to be our next School Captains for 2025. Students will speak to the school tomorrow (Thursday) with voting to occur immediately after. Our new School Captains and Vice Captains will be inducted at the Academy Farewell Assembly on Wednesday 25 September at 10.00am. I wish every student every success in being elected our new leaders.
Primary School Leaders from 2025
As part of our school re-structure, our Year 6 students will be involved in leadership opportunities as part of their primary school education. Students and staff will have the opportunity to elect two School Captains and two Vice Captains from our Year 6 2025 class. These students will be elected in Term 4 by K-6 students and staff.
Academy II Farewell Assembly
We will officially farewell our Academy II students at a special assembly on Wednesday 25 September from 10.00am. We invite all members of our school community to join us for this special event.
Assembly Next Wednesday
We will hold a brief assembly next Wednesday from 12.30pm for all students K-12. As we have had a number of special assemblies this term, we haven't had the opportunity to present awards for our students and to recognise their success. Please join us for this short assembly next Wednesday if you can.
School Structure Update for 2025
As you know, we are working to make some changes to our school structure for 2025 and beyond. We will be moving back to a model where we have two areas of our school (from the current three). We will have a Primary school area (Kindergarten to Year 6) and a Secondary area (Years 7-12). At this stage, our current compressed curriculum will remain in place for our HSC years. We will always remain a K-12 school, this is what makes Uralla Central School the special place it is! As a staff, we are still working around what our options will look like and we will communicate these to you throughout Term 4. Please see our structures in the table below:
Primary (Kindergarten to Year 6) | Secondary (Years 7-12) |
---|---|
