On Wednesday 15th of May, Year 9 students travelled to the Arts Centre Melbourne to view 360’ All Stars, an urban circus produced by Onyx Productions. As part of their circus unit students have been developing a short performance which will be presented to a primary age audience. Students had the chance to not only observe a professional performance, but also the lively, energetic and at times exceeding LOUD audience of primary aged children. Prior to viewing the show students enjoyed a guided tour of the Australia Music Vault. Bairnsdale Secondary College would like to thank the Arts Centre Melbourne and the First Call Subsidy for making this excursion possible.
The Year 9 German students participated in a culinary journey to discover the flavours and traditions of Southern Germany by preparing the mouthwatering Maultaschen. The students paired up with Michelle Boyles Year 11 and 12 Food technology class for this special cooking incursion.
Thank you to Michelle, Viv and Rhonda for supporting us in this incursion!
Parliament of Victoria - Work Experience (15+)
Expressions of interest to complete a work experience placement at the Parliament of Victoria in terms 3 and 4, 2024 are now open. Students can choose between two programs, Sitting or Services.
Parliamentary Sitting placements provide the opportunity to see the law-making process up close. Students will go behind the scenes with the staff who directly support Parliament sittings, to get a deeper understanding of our democratic processes.
Parliamentary Services placements offer a variety of opportunities that can be matched with a broad range of student interests and career goals, including business operations, facilities management and maintenance, broadcast (Hansard), and hospitality (kitchen).
Placements run for 5 days: Monday-Friday, from 9am until 5pm each day.
Expressions of interest for terms 3 & 4 will close at 5:00pm on Friday 5 July 2024. Interested students will be notified of the outcome of their submission no later than Friday 26 July. For more info and to lodge an expression of interest go to Work experience at Parliament House

It’s fantastic to see so many of our students stepping up to the challenges of such a tough competition! We are proud of the students’ accomplishments and look forward to witnessing their continued success in the world of mathematics and beyond. This competition is of a demanding standard, designed to identify real mathematical talent, and challenges and extends students’ problem-solving skills. Between 3000 and 5000 students from across Australia enter.
Homework club is held in the Senior building every Wednesday and Thursday. This is open for ALL students at our College.
Homework club is a terrific opportunity for students to both catch up or get ahead in work. Students are offered the opportunity to work in small groups with other students or have one on one tutoring with their teachers, or other teachers.
If you are interested, speak with your teachers and let them know when you are looking to attend or go to the Senior building on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.
Homework club runs from 3.20 pm to 5.00 pm and students are free to arrive and leave as they need.
