National Careers Week 13 - 19 May 2024

Last week was National Careers Week and Bairnsdale Secondary College hosted two events for our students and the local community.

On Monday 13th May we hosted the annual Tertiary Information Session in Boucher Hall.  The event was attended by 13 tertiary education providers including Monash, Melbourne, RMIT, Deakin and Federation Universities, TAFE Gippsland and VTAC - Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre. Students from BSC, Nagle College, Orbost Community College and Lakes Entrance Secondary College heard from various guest speakers about their post-secondary college options. A small team of our VCE VM students did a fantastic job catering the event.

On Wednesday 15th May we hosted a careers incursion. We had guest speakers from:

  • Emergency Services (SES, CFA, VicPol and Ambulance Victoria)
  • Nursing - Sophie Brown
  • Chef - Michelle Boyle
  • Carpentry - Tess Walker
  • Civil Engineering - Margaret Supplitt

Students were able to hear from these guests, ask questions and get a better understanding of what those careers entail. Our VCE VM students did another fantastic job catering this event.
