Creator God, we follow in the footsteps of Jesus, as we walk together on your path of love, hope and faith.

Thank you for the gifts of our school,

our environment, our families and friends.

May our school be a place of learning, care, welcome and celebration.

Mary our Mother, pray for us.

St Mary of the Cross, pray for us.

Amen

The bible readings from Sunday are from Hebrews 9:11-15 and Mark 14:12-16, 22-26 which highlight the importance of Jesus' sacrifice and the establishment of the New Covenant.

Hebrews 9:11-15 explains that Jesus is the ultimate high priest who sacrificed His own blood to achieve eternal redemption for humanity. Unlike the old system of animal sacrifices, which only temporarily purified people, Jesus' sacrifice cleanses our conscience and allows us to truly serve God.

Mark 14:12-16, 22-26 describes the Last Supper, where Jesus shares a meal with His disciples. During this meal, He introduces Communion, breaking bread as His body and sharing wine as His blood, representing the New Covenant. This act signifies the new relationship between God and humanity, based on Jesus' sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins.

Together, these passages show that Jesus' sacrifice brings a lasting redemption and establishes a new, deeper relationship with God. The practice of Communion helps believers remember and participate in this profound act of love and redemption.

Let us pray.

God, our Father,

You have invited us to share in the supper which your Son gave to his Church to proclaim his death until he comes: may he nourish us by his presence, and unite us in his love; who is alive and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Prayer for Wisdom

In everything we do, O Lord, give us a desire to seek out the truth;

give us a willingness to heed the advice of others;

give us wisdom in reaching decisions;

give us faith to believe in our conclusions;

give us courage to put our ideas to the test;

and, if we prove ourselves wrong, give us the grace to admit it.

Amen.
