Good Afternoon Parents Students, Staff and Friends of Derinya,

Another week has flown by with fantastic learning occurring in every classroom. Touring the school yesterday with prospective families for 2025 was such a joy. The children are demonstrating outstanding dedication to their learning, our environments are safe and orderly with high levels of engagement.

Road Safety and E-Scooters

At our last School Council meeting we discussed the importance of safety for all children when travelling to and from school. There has also been a lot of media coverage around the use of E-Scooters. It is illegal for primary school aged children to ride E-Scooters with the minimum age being 16. The support of families is appreciated around this.

Derinya Dance Showcase

I am very much looking forward to this years Derinya Dance Showcase to be held at Frankston High School next Wednesday evening. Our students are so fortunate to have such passionate and talented staff working with them to create incredible songs and dance routines. Good luck to all!

Student Voice

Our SVT are doing some great work at the moment planning for a social service event, gathering feedback on the proposed bike shed and discussing the new names of our four houses. We also have a group of staff who will be administering the PIVOT survey which is an opportunity to receive student to teacher feedback. This is an exciting chance for our staff to hear from the students and continue to grow their practice.

Library

Not only will we be receiving our new library furniture, we will also be installing a new library management system. This will greatly assist the management of our beautiful resources and streamline the process for managing returns and over dues. The children will also have access to a large amount of new content online via the platform.

Congratulations

Congratulations to our two newest recruits Ms Leah Clarke and Mr Spencer Daly. Both Leah and Spencer attended their formal graduation ceremony this week and both are doing an outstanding job in their first year of their careers. We are very lucky to have them both!

Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend ahead.
