Football

Last week saw our keen Year 9 and 10 footballers take to Pedrina Park in the annual GD Football round robin competition. The young men were up against Monivae College first up on a beautiful sunny day. A great start by the team and early goals from Liam Dwyer saw us on top early, however Monivae took over in the second half and despite kicking the last goal of the game we ended up going down by 7 points. Our goal kickers were Liam Dwyer (2) and Angus Rowe. Better players were Liam Dwyer, Finn Dennis and Will Bourke.

Game #2 saw us take on Bayview College, which we defeated them by 43pts. The boys played a great running style of footy and goal kickers were Bailey Clarke (4) and Jude Alexander (3). Better players were Bailey Clarke, Will Bourke, Jude Alexander, Sam O’Sullivan and Spurs Lynch.

Game #3 was against Portland Secondary College. A tight and physical contest was played out with the opposition never giving in. However, due to dominant performance from our midfield and Angus Rowe taking some good marks and converting up forward, we gained victory by 6 points. Goal Kickers were Angus Rowe (2) and Bailey Clarke and Lucas Thompson. Better players were Finn Dennis, Will Bourke, Angus Rowe, Louis Lazzari and Bailey Clarke.

Well done to Miss Dixon on organising and running the day and Football Captain George Austin for helping out with umpiring at the last minute.

3x3 Basketball

Well done, Daniel Su, 2024 Basketball Captain, for organising a 3x3 lunchtime showdown in the Sports Centre this week. This competition lasted three days, and players ranged from Year 7 to Year 12, with Mr Cameron representing staff with Gapper Max.

Today's grand final showdown between 'Will Burke is Him' and 'Bankshots', with Bankshots: Jacob Butcher, Ciaran Nelson, Isaac Shaw, and Oscar Hausler, crowned the 2024 College 3x3 Champions.

Congratulations to everyone who played – it was a fantastic atmosphere, and everyone showed great comradery and respect. Also, a massive thank you to the crowd of students who lined all courts and supported all teams.

Thank you, Unicraft Joinery, for sponsoring new balls for the competition.
