Individual photos will be taken throughout the day also. Students are to wear their full winter uniform including their Blazer for all photos. Order Forms will be given to the students.

NOTE: These Order Forms are to be given to the photographers on the day. The College will not be accepting pre-orders.

See attachment for the Order of Photos.  We hope there is time to take the Performing Arts photos on 7 June, however, this may not be possible on the day.  If so, these photos will be rescheduled to the Winter Sports Photo day later in the year.

Bronze Practice Adventurous Journey

Through the pouring rain 3 short blasts of a whistle are heard, a student is lost or in distress!

“Sir, there’s a leech in my tent and I can’t find it”!

Paranoia is rife after a day of intense rain and many leeches.

This sums up the Bronze Practice Adventurous Journey that took place on the weekend. Twenty-two students and 2 staff walked the 23km from Hornsby to Berowra with an evening of camping at Crossland Reserve (route modified due to excessive flooding of creeks).

The group experienced and camped through the extreme weather event with 98mm of overnight rain. The rain was relentless, finding its way into packs, tents, sleeping bags and even sandwiches for the next days lunch. It was definitely an adventure! The boys thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and personal growth through shared experience with their mates.

These activities cannot occur without the dedication, experience and goodwill of our staff. A very big thank you to Mr Anesh Naidoo for his time, patience and perseverance through difficult conditions; and also, to the boys for their great behaviour and positive attitude through some very 'trying' conditions. Thank you must also go to Mrs Gunns our Duke of Edinburgh Convenor. Well, done and congratulations to all!

Visual Arts

The Visual Arts Department is delighted to announce that Finn McLean of Year 11 Visual Arts has received an honourable mention in the prestigious 2024 Young Archies competition for his artwork titled 'Ageing Reverie', a beautiful piece about his grandfather. This remarkable achievement highlights Finn's dedication, talent, and the deep connections he portrays through his art.

This is not the first time Finn has been recognised in the Young Archies. Last year, he also received an honourable mention for his portrait of his father, 'Armchair Expert'. Finn's continued success in this competition is a testament to his growth as an artist and his ability to capture the essence of his subjects with sensitivity and skill.

The Young Archies competition is highly competitive, with over 4,000 entries submitted this year. Out of these, only 70 were selected as finalists, and just 20 received honourable mentions. This year’s competition was judged by the esteemed Grace Lillian Lee, adding further prestige to the recognition Finn has earned.

The 2024 Young Archies marks the 12th year of celebrating young artists, and we are immensely proud of Finn's accomplishments. His work will be displayed at the SH Ervin Gallery alongside the Salon des Refusés, providing an excellent opportunity for our school community to view and support his talent.

Congratulations, Finn, on this outstanding achievement. We encourage everyone to visit the exhibition and celebrate the incredible work of our young artists.
