Library News
Please remind and encourage your child/ren to bring either their blue reader cover or another suitable bag to school each week on their library day so they can access the many books on offer. If they forget their bag on their assigned day or if they finish their books they can visit the library before school Monday-Friday to borrow. It is a good idea to have their blue reader folder/library bag with them each day as on the rare occasion there may be the need to swap days on the timetable.
The current library timetable is:
Monday: Year 4
Tuesday: Year 6 & Year 1
Wednesday: Year 3 & Foundation
Thursday: Year 5 & Year 2

National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS)
National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. Now in its 25th successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6.
The National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) event in 2025, taking place on May 21st, will focus on the book "The Truck Cat" by Deborah Frenkel. The Truck Cat is a story about cats and humans, immigration and identity, and homes lost and found.
***For National Simultaneous Storytime 2025, and to create a little fun here at St Joseph's, we are encouraging students to take photos of themselves with their cat (or any other animal friend) while reading "The Truck Cat" by Deborah Frenkel, and share these with Mrs Natale at carmelnatale@sjcobram.catholic.edu.au
so we can collate and make a powerpoint presentation to use closer to the event.
If you would like your child to be a part of this, either email Mrs Natale or send in a written note, and she will collate a list, sending a copy of the book home with your child. We ask that you read the book and take a photo within a couple of days so that we can keep circulating the book to as many families as possible. Once read, don't forget to return the book and send your photos in.
We will be joining this event on Wednesday 21st May.
