News from the Art Room

Another busy and exciting term awaits as we gear up for our Arts Festival in term 3 - a fabulous opportunity to celebrate students’ achievements in the Arts this year.

Picasso Cow Program

This term we welcome a special guest to the art room! She is yet to be named and looking very ready for a makeover. She comes to St Pat’s as part of the Picasso Cow Program. Our goal is to give her an identity and personality using our creative collaboration of ideas. She will launch at the Arts Festival and will become a permanent feature in our school gardens.

Students will have an opportunity in class to name our cow and to contribute ideas towards the design.

Our cow will also inspire some art works that you will be able to see at our Arts Festival.

Term 2

The majority of our work this term will align closely with the Picasso Cow Program, centred around sustainability.

The latter part of the term will focus on Indigenous and Australian art as we discuss National Reconciliation Week, leading into NAIDOC Week.

This term each year level will…

-Explore a specific artist relating to the work they are doing.

-Develop the ability to share and reflect on their work as well as reflecting on and appreciating the works of others.

-Use a broad range of materials to create 2D and 3D artworks.

-Create artworks that express their ideas and observations, using different techniques and processes.

As events in the art room evolve and change quickly across all levels, a more specific snapshot of our work will be provided towards the end of term 2 via SeeSaw, similar to term 1.

Parent helpers

If you have time to cut and glue some small items of work for the art show (can be done at home) please come and see me. There will be another working bee or two this term to assist with art show preparation.

Thanks,
