Term 2

Term 2 has been full of activity, learning and creativity in the Secondary 7/8 section!

One of the biggest highlights has been the beginning of rehearsals for the 2025, 7/8 Spectacular! This year, we’re proud to announce a brand new production with a rock and roll theme, written by our very own 78E teacher, Mady. Auditions for lead roles have taken place and students have been eagerly rehearsing lines, songs and dances. Every 7/8 class has also started learning their class dance, and the energy is high.

In the Discovery unit, students have been exploring the topic of how our brain works and how to keep it healthy. They’ve learned all about the amygdala — the part of the brain that helps manage our emotions — and discovered five key strategies to support brain health: getting enough sleep, being physically active, staying socially connected, eating well, and taking part in fun, enjoyable activities.

We’ve also spent time learning about staying safe online. Students explored how to have a positive experience when using social media and what to do if something doesn’t feel right. A special visit from our police liaison officer helped students understand how to make safe choices and where to seek help.

It’s been a big term of learning, and we’re proud of the way students have embraced every opportunity.
