Students in Year 4 have been very excited these past couple of weeks. They have been working on creating Clay Coil Pots. Students viewed a variety of pots online, then learnt how to roll a slab base, roll a number of clay coils and then added decorative coils including decorative ropes, swirls and spheres. Students were given creative licence; as long as they made their slab, at least 3 coils and showed that they could add clay decorations that would enhance their artwork. This week students will underglaze (Colour) and Gloss Glaze their pots. Here are some examples before the glazing process.

Last term our Year 5 students studied the work of Tom Fedro, the Chicago Pop artist. Students focused on learning how to draw portraits in an abstract style and use oil pastels to show blending and solid colours.  We presently have 2 Tom Fedro Displays in our main corridor. If you have time, please come and admire our talented students’ artwork.
