Principal's Message

Welcome to Week 4 of Term 2. We continue to enjoy warm and sunny weather, and it has been fabulous to see our students making the most of it in the yard. Blue skies and sunshine certainly help bring a smile to our faces as we move through the busy middle weeks of term.
Mother’s and Very Important Person’s Open Afternoon
Thank you to all the parents, carers, grandparents and special visitors who joined us for our Mother’s and VIP Open Afternoon on Friday. It was lovely to see so many of you in classrooms sharing in your child’s learning, followed by a delicious afternoon tea provided by our wonderful staff. Events like these are a beautiful reminder of the strong community spirit that makes our school such a special place. We also hope all our mothers and special carers enjoyed a well-deserved and wonderful Mother’s Day on Sunday.
Year 6 Camp
Excitement is building as our Year 6 students prepare to head off on camp this Wednesday. We are keeping our fingers crossed that this glorious weather continues to shine down on them as they embark on a week of outdoor challenges, team-building, laughter, and memories to last a lifetime. We thank our staff who are attending camp, many of whom are giving up time away from their own families to ensure our students have a safe and enriching experience.
Parking and Traffic Safety Reminder
A reminder to all families to be mindful of local parking restrictions and respectful of our school neighbours during drop-off and pick-up times. Please do not block driveways or park illegally, even briefly, as this creates frustration and safety risks. Whittlesea Council parking officers continue to monitor the area regularly. We appreciate your support in keeping our school community safe.
School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) and Our New School Values
As we prepare for the official Term 3 launch of our School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) initiative, our students are actively engaging in lessons to explore and understand our new core school values: Collaboration, Respect, and Perseverance. These values have been carefully chosen with input from staff, students and parents and reflect the qualities we aim to foster across our learning community. Over the coming weeks, students will continue to participate in activities that help bring these values to life in both classroom and yard settings.
Read below to find out more from one of our SWPBS Ambassadors, Hannah Wilson.
In Week 4, we are excited to launch our next SWPBS fortnightly focus – all about manners! We are encouraging students to show our SWPBS value of Respect by using their manners with peers, school staff, and the wider school community. We will be focusing on saying ‘please’, ‘thank you’, ‘excuse me’, and ‘I’m sorry’.Secret manners judges will be appointed each day, on the lookout for students who are using their manners. These students will receive a special recognition card to bring home and share with their families.
We are also excited to launch our SWPBS Heights Heroes!Starting in Week 5, at each assembly, two students from each class will be presented with a SWPBS Values Certificate. This means that, at some point during the previous two weeks, the student has been recognised for demonstrating one of our school values: Respect, Collaboration, or Perseverance.
We can’t wait to see all our students demonstrating our school values!
Thank you for your continued support of all that we do at Mill Park Heights. We look forward to the exciting fortnight ahead.
