Dear Parents and Friends,
Well, here we are almost at the end of Week 3 already! These first few weeks have been jam-packed with swimming, District Cross Country, Mother's Day stalls and Breakfast, just to name a few.
Today marked the last of our District Cross Country training sessions. A big thank you-
to the families who have supported their children by getting them to the early morning training
to Tracey and Fiona for purchasing the food for breakfast
to our staff for having breakfast ready each morning, and most of all
to Hannah Richards for leading each session.
We wish the team good luck for the District Cross Country next Tuesday. We know they will all strive to do their best and will represent the school with pride.
The last two weeks have seen our Foundation-Year 4 children enjoying their swimming lessons. This program is about building up their water safety, confidence and enjoyment of being in the water. All our children have thoroughly enjoyed these lessons, even though they were all very tired! The teachers have all said how beautifully they behaved and followed instructions from their swimming teachers. I was down at the pool several times during the 8 days of training, and I could not be prouder of how well they swam and their beautiful manners! Well done to our swimmers.
What a wonderful, exciting morning was had by all this morning. Many fantastic gifts are coming home to celebrate the wonderful Mums and special women in our lives! A big thank you to the Year 6 students who so ably manned the stall and assisted the other children in their choices. A big thank you to Hayley and Lisa team who purchased the gifts and set up the stall.
We look forward to celebrating our Mums and special friends tomorrow for breakfast. There has been so much preparation put into the morning, and we thank Vanessa, Sharon, Andrew and the team for all their hard work to make this event so special for our community.
Congratulations to Blake, Christina, Gemma, Charlotte, Josh and Luke who are representing St Brigid's at the City of Kingston Junior Mayor election today. The team have worked very hard with some help from Mrs Harrison and will be making their presentation at Kingston Town Hall. We wish them the very best of luck.
Our walk-to-school day is next Thursday, 15th May.
We encourage everyone to walk, ride, or scoot on this day. We will be meeting at the Peanut Park at 8:00am where Mrs Thredgold will lead us in walking to school!
Looking forward to seeing all of you there!!
At last week’s assembly, the St Brigid’s Light the Way Awards were presented.
The F-2 award was presented to Billie S for accepting every challenge with her learning. Her teacher commended her for attending Gateways last term, even though she was new to the school.
The 3-6 award was presented to Billie G for adapting to a new year level and workload, always accepting challenges. Her teacher also wrote - Well done, Billie, with your learning gains, you should be very proud!
At last Friday's assembly we also presented the Aussie of the Month award. This award is given to the student who displays the following characteristics: mateship, inclusion, respect and fair go. A BIG congratulations to Cleo M. Below is the description written about our April’s recipient.
Cleo M is an amazingly kind and caring friend. She shows a great awareness of how her friends are feeling, makes sure that everyone is included, and is always happy to help her friends and teachers. Cleo gives everything a try in class and works hard to ensure she completes all her work.
In order to assist our wonderful Tuckshop Team in preparing lunch orders from this week we have amended the cutoff ordering time to 8:30am each Friday. This means all orders must be placed or cancelled by 8:30am. Any late orders or cancellations unfortunately can't accomodated. Lisa and her team are busy working on a new Tuckshop menu which they look forward to introducing in a few weeks time.
Wendy is having a fabulous time exploring England. She has explored Beatrix Potter's house in the Lake District (writer and illustrator of Peter Rabbit) and Diddly Squat Farm (from Clarkson's farm on TV) in the Cotswolds!
She is now exploring Bath. Here is a photo of the beautiful Putney bridge.
