Year 3/4 Gala Day
This Thursday 1st May some of our Year 3 and 4 students will attend the Year 3/4 Football Gala Day at Colac Central Reserve. Unfortunately this event does not cater for everyone (we are restricted on the number of teams we can send). Sacred Heart are sending three teams to this event and we hope they have a great day.
Students will leave Sacred Heart at 9:30am and return at 1:40pm. Students will need to wear their sports uniform (they may bring along football boots – but runners will be okay). Students will need to also bring their drink bottle, snacks and lunch. We do require parents to assist on the day, so if you can help out can you please indicate on PAM.
A big thank you to our Year 6 leaders who will be umpiring on the day. This is a great leadership role for these students and we are very grateful for their help.
(Please complete Permission details on PAM for your child)
AFL 9’s Football Trials
This Friday 2nd May, trials will take place for all students in Year 5 and 6 who would like to trial for the Sacred Heart AFL 9’s Football teams. Footballers will need to wear their sports uniform on Friday (they may bring along a football jumper and football boots – but runners will be okay).
This year SSV (School Sport Victoria) have taken on a new format for AFL football. No longer will we have the 18 a side football teams at our Colac Division Lightning Premiership. The new format is AFL 9’s. This new format has many modified football rules, but also has only 9 players on the field at a time. With parent support we are hoping to have 3-4 teams representing Sacred Heart. The event will take place on Friday 30th May at Colac Central Reserve.
Lightning Premiership Netball Trials
This Friday 2nd May, trials will take place for all female netballers in Year 5 and 6 who would like to trial for the Sacred Heart Lightning Premiership netball teams. These trial will take place during the lunch break. Girls are reminded to wear their sports uniform for these trials. The Colac Division Lightning Premiership will take place on Friday 30th May at the Eastern Reserve.
Colac Division Cross Country
Our Senior school students (Year 4/5/6) have completed their Cross Country event at school, and those students that have qualified will now attend the Colac Division Cross Country event on Thursday 8th May at the Colac Golf Club. We wish the students who have qualified all the best. Students will need to wear their sports uniform, bring along their drink bottle, snacks, fruit and lunch for the day. Students will travel by bus to this event.
We do require parents to assist on the day, so if you can help out, can you please indicate on PAM.

500-kilometre Journey
A big congratulations to Thea Anderson for completing her 500 kilometre journey along the Murray River. Thea raised $17,300 for the Good Friday Appeal. Thea water-skied five laps of Mildura’s 100 kilometre course. Thea should be very proud of her achievement. We are certainly very proud of her.
Equestrian State Champion
Congratulations to Lotus Rothery for claiming state champion status in the primary 80 centimetre showjumping category on her pony Banjo. This was held at Boneo Park over the school holidays. Lotus will now compete at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre in September. What a fantastic effort Lotus, well done.
