Stage 2

A message from Stage 2

We are excited to welcome you back for Term 2! We hope you are ready for a term filled with engaging learning experiences. This term, our focus will be on deepening our understanding of key concepts across all subjects, encouraging curiosity, and fostering a love of learning.

English

During the first few weeks of term, students engaged in our English unit, ‘Deadly Science,’ which highlighted the contributions of Indigenous Australians to science and the environment. The text presented factual information intertwined with narratives that showcased the knowledge and practices of Indigenous Peoples. Through this exploration, our students engaged with themes of respect for nature, cultural heritage, and scientific inquiry.

Over the next few weeks, students will engage in the study of the text 'Ned Kelly' and examine the life and legend of this Australian figure. The text provides a narrative account of Ned Kelly's life, exploring themes of justice, rebellion, and the complexities of Australian identity. Students will analyse the portrayal of Ned Kelly in various texts, including historical documents and fictional representations.

Mathematics

This term in mathematics, we have been focusing on whole numbers, helping students strengthen their understanding of counting, addition, and subtraction. Over the next few weeks, we will focus on multiplicative thinking.

Multiplicative thinking involves understanding how numbers can be grouped and scaled. Students are learning about multiplication and division, exploring how these operations relate to everyday situations, such as sharing items or combining groups. We will engage in hands-on activities, games, and problem-solving tasks to make learning fun and meaningful.

Athletics

Stage 2 would like to thank Jay Stone for his incredible athletics development sessions during Term 1 and Term 2. Stage 2 enjoyed learning new skills.
