Dance Academy

We have had a busy start to the term with senior students preparing for their solo performances and all students preparing for the troupe performances. All of our students had the opportunity to work with dance photographer, Elizabeth Savannah, and have their headshots taken for our upcoming Assessment Night which is on the 27th of May. Our year 7 and 9 students participated in a fun hip hop incursion with Abi Bolmat which was a great celebration for all of the hard work they have been doing in class.
Thank you to Estelle Green and Makayla Healy for performing at our Grade 6 Information night and to Ruby Smith and Zoe Jannsen for speaking on behalf of our academy students during the session. Estelle and Makayla also spoke proudly during our Dance Academy Information session for grade 6 students interested in enrolment next year. These students volunteered their time and were a great representation of how we provide leadership opportunities for our dance students.
Dance Star Competition – State Qualifier
On May 3rd, close to 90 students represented the school at the Dance Star State Qualifier competition held at Rowville Secondary College. This competition is the first step to qualifying for Nationals which will be held in Tasmania later this year. All students gave it their best and this was reflected in the results with most solos and troupes qualifying for the State final on June 1st. Good luck to all students who are through to the next round and well done to all of those students who gave it their best on the stage!
Thank you to parents and staff for their dedication and support on the day!
Matilda – School Production
A huge congratulations to the cast of Matilda who performed three fantastic performances last week! Special mention to Mikaylah A (who played Matilda), Evie B, Alysia N, Mikayla W, Tasha P, Sripriya N, Venice W and Brianna S who are all BCDA students. We loved seeing you all on stage!
Congratulations to year 7 students Halle Sawkins and Londyn Peacock for competing at The Finals at Universal Orlando Resort in early May. Halle and Londyn represented their cheer club, Royal All Stars, in youth level 1. They placed 2nd in the world competition which is a huge achievement.
