Berwick College Careers Expo & National Careers Week – Monday 12/5 – Friday 16/5

Berwick College held their annual Career Expo in the Leisure Centre this week.  All students in years 9 to 12 participated in the Expo at specific times throughout the day.  Berwick College proudly notes that the providers were very impressed with the respect our students demonstrated, and the informative questions asked.  Universities, TAFE institutes, the Police Force and Defence Force were in attendance, together with a wide range of apprenticeships and private providers that are specialty related (such as Beauty, Dance, Sport, Media, Entertainment and Fashion).  The Berwick Star News paid our school a visit and will be running an article about the success of the Expo in their paper shortly.

This expo provides all our students with an opportunity to meet with these providers and have discussions about pathway requirements and how their learning at Berwick College can assist them with their destinations. Students will also gain valuable information from providers to support their annual Career Education sessions held during Semester 1, in time for course counselling.

Students in years 7 and 8 celebrated National Careers week by participating in a range of career activities today.  The sessions will provide additional support and guidance for our students, building a connection between learning, pathways at school and building bridges to empower career choices.

Careers

Year 12 – Careers Sessions

Year 12 students are currently meeting with Mrs Crawley in one-on-one careers sessions to determine their career pathway plan preferences for 2026. During these meetings we are identifying the student's preferred career and then researching the necessary pre-requisite preparation requirements that are integral to be completed during this year as part of the process.  The application process for 2026 commences on the 28th of July, 2025. Students will be supported through this process to ensure they are able to successfully undertake further study, training or work for 2026.

Year 11 – Careers Session

Year 11 students have completed their Career Action Plan – I Decide. Any student who did not complete a Career Action Plan please see Ms Lentowicz in C3s.  During this year, students are beginning to decide which pathway they would like to follow and are researching pre-requisite requirements such as subjects, folios, auditions and interviews etc.

Year 10 – Careers Session

During the year 10 Level Up Day, students will hear about Berwick College educational programs (VCE, VCE VM, VET and Headstart).  This session will assist students to make an informed decision related to their preferred learning style and career pathway in preparation for course counselling later this year.  In addition, year 10 students will commence their Career Action Plan – I Plan sessions this term.

Year 9 2025 – Careers Session and Morrisby Profiling

Year 9 students who have not had the opportunity to complete their Morrisby Profile will receive information from the Careers team about how and when this will occur during the latter part of May. In addition, an opportunity for a one-on-one interview will be available to support students to make informed choices about subject selection related to careers they are interested in at course counselling later this year.

Year 8 – Careers Sessions

Year 8 Careers counselling sessions have now concluded. Students have completed a Career Action Plan – I Explore in a class setting with Mrs Duhau.  They have developed a profile of themselves, exploring their interests, values and skills. Students have investigated learning styles and identified what makes learning easier for them. The students have reflected on their Year 7 Career Action Plan identifying last year’s achievements. Thereafter, each child has set new goals and a plan for year 8 and begun to identify careers related to their interests and skills using a range of Career resources. In conjunction with their Career Action Plan, students have brainstormed how to make a positive difference during this year, linking with their year level theme.

Years 7– Careers Sessions

Year 7 Careers counselling sessions (developing a Career Action Plan – I Discover) will commence in the latter part of Term 2.

VCE VM Students – SWLR and VET
