Principals' Report

Dear Parents and Carers,
In Loving Memory of Ms Leanne Brown
This week, the St. Patrick’s community mourns the heartbreaking loss of Ms Leanne Brown, one of our beloved Learning Support Officers, who tragically passed away unexpectedly last Thursday.
Leanne was a gentle and compassionate presence in our school, always ready with a kind word and a warm smile. Her commitment to supporting our students and staff — both in the classroom and in the front office on Mondays — reflected her generous heart and deep care for others. Her sudden passing has left a profound void in our hearts and in our daily lives.
As we come to terms with this loss, we hold Leanne’s family, friends, and colleagues in our prayers and surround them with love and support during this incredibly difficult time.
A Prayer for Ms Leanne Brown
Loving God, We entrust our dear Leanne into Your eternal care. May she rest in the peace of Your presence, where there is no pain, only light and love. We thank You for the gift of her life, the kindness she shared, and the joy she brought to so many. Be with all who mourn her loss — especially her family, colleagues, and students — and grant them comfort and strength. May we find hope in Your promise of eternal life and carry Leanne’s spirit with us always, through acts of compassion and care.
Amen.
Sporting News
Congratulations to our School Cross Country team who competed in the Mordialloc District Cross Country Championships on Tuesday this week. All of our team members competed to a very high standard with many students qualifying for the Division Championships in a few weeks time. I am please to announce that we finished 2nd overall on the day. Congratulations to our team and to Mr Edwards our PE and Sports Leader. Thanks also to our supervising staff on the day.
Good luck to Mr Edwards who is representing Australia this week at the Trans Tasman Hockey Championships in Cairns.
Congratulations to Jaimee C!
Jaimee has qualified for the second round of the SSV Girls AFL Football trials — a fantastic achievement! This is especially impressive as Jaimee is only in Year 5, meaning she’ll have another opportunity to participate next year as well. Well done, Jaimee!
Traffic and Pedestrian Survey
Later this term, Road Safety Victoria will be conducting a pedestrian survey of the surrounding streets around St. Patrick's School
The Department of Transport and Planning is partnering with councils to survey traffic and pedestrian movements at various locations across Victoria to identify any road safety issues.
Survey cameras will be temporarily mounted on public roads for a 3-day period (Tues, Wed & Thurs), which will be activated to cover the morning and afternoon school times. Similarly to Google Maps there will be no facial or number plate recognition and will not be placed on any school grounds. This camera technology detects movement without capturing the identity of pedestrians and vehicles. It replaces the pneumatic rubber tubes and onsite observations previously used for such surveys.
More information will follow in coming newsletters.
School Winter Uniforms
All students are now required to be in their full school winter uniform. It is an expectation that winter shirts are tucked in at all times and that the correct shoes are also worn.
Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining our school’s high standard of presentation.
Junior Playground
I am pleased to share that we have begun planning for the installation of the new Junior playground, which we hope will take place in the middle of Term 3. This week Mrs Speranza and I met with the Student Representative Council to look at playground designs and to identify elements we would like to have on our new Junior Playground. Chris, our playground designer, also enjoyed working with our students to bring their ideas to reality!
Please check below the initial drawings from our meeting - Very Exciting!!
