On the last day of Term 1, we held a Flag Raising Ceremony to proudly fly the Australian Flag, Aboriginal Flag and Torres Strait Islander Flag together on our three new flagpoles at the front of the school. St Brigid’s College has made a commitment to strengthening our knowledge and relationship with our community and the flying of the three flags reflects our commitment to this. It was lovely to have School Captain, Ulani Hobbs, sing the National Anthem as the flags were raised.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we were unfortunately not able to hold the Smoking Ceremony as initially planned. We are hopeful that we will be able to reschedule this for a future date.
We extend a warm thank you to the special guests who took time out of their busy schedules to join us, and to Uncle Alan Murphy for joining us at the last minute.
On the last day of Term 1 we celebrated the achievements of our students at our recent House Athletics Carnival.
Congratulations to Clontarf, that was the winning House, earning 1805 points. House Captains Keely Elliott and Thomas Hobbs were presented with the Champion House Shield. In a very close second place was Kildare, on 1763 points, followed by Melleray, which earned 1126 points. Well done to all students who were involved in the events on the day, the high participation of students was what made the scores so tight!

At the assembly we also farewelled Fr Matt Restall, who will be leaving our parish to join Ballarat East Parish from Term 2. We thank Fr Matt for his presence and contributions to our college community, he has attended our retreats and was a regular visitor to our classrooms and will be greatly missed.
Here is a wrap up of some highlights from the last week of Term 1! Many Textiles projects underway, delicious cooking in Foods and Noah and Sean working on their products as part of Certificate II in Small Business.
Sushi Day was planned and implemented by Mrs. Cross and a group of her Japanese students with the intention of providing the school with a valuable cultural experience! These students were involved in various important decision-making processes, such as determining the pricing of each sushi and devising advertising strategies. They also worked hard to take pre-orders, serve sushi, and manage payments on the day of the event. Mrs. Cross and her students will meet again to decide where to donate the profits.
What a treat!
