Intermediate Volleyball

Intermediate Volleyball

Last week, students participated in Intermediate Volleyball. Our Wantirna students showed grit and determination in the face of some fierce competition against schools in the region. Despite not making it to the next round, our teams showed great sportsmanship, grace and camaraderie, and should be extremely proud of their efforts.

Here is what some students had to say:

It was really fun, it was great to bond with everyone and just have a bit of laughs. The energy was amazing and it felt so lively playing with my team and cheering on others. Even if we were losing we still gave a crack and came out with smiles on all our faces! ~ Riana Muir

My experience with the intermediate girls volleyball team was awesome, at the start I was really nervous not knowing my team as well as I maybe should. But they were really welcoming, and I became comfortable quite quickly. The overall experience was surreal, seeing all the different schools was really exciting, having each of them being really good sports. 😁

When I came in the stadium, I faced a bunch of competitive players. The spacious courts and the various keen faces made me truly nervous at the start. Although that nervousness kicked off when our team won against Boronia. Then, we versed Upwey, knowing they will be one of the most competitive schools. we lost miserably; however, my team stayed positive. After couple minutes of break, we versed Rowville. When versing Rowville the tension built up since our scores were so close. Our scores were neck to neck although Wantirna lost just by 2 points at the final. There was lots of confusion and misunderstand due to the frustration of a small loss. Lastly, Girls Team B versed another team of Rowville's. We won the two rounds proudly.

Overall, my Interschool volleyball experience was AMAZING. I enjoyed playing with other schools and I loved my team, everyone was so nice and friendly. Volleyball 2024 made me gain communication skills, teamwork skill and develop good friendships with my teammates.

Thank you to the teachers who helped organise this experience! ~ Stella Strestha
