Harmony Week!

We launched MMCRC Harmony Week - keeping the 2024 theme “Everyone Belongs" in our mind and commenced with a dynamic West African Drumming Workshop, facilitated by Bouba! He instantly lifted the lunchtime vibe with an amazing interactive demonstration of drumming on the djembes. This was followed up by a workshop, where students were taught traditional drumbeats, songs, and dances.

Throughout the week we had students and staff read prayers to the whole school in different languages, such as French, Danish, Spanish, and Māori, highlighting the diversity within our own school. There were also daily quizzes in the library and posters around the school made by Year 11 Youth Ministry students.

On Thursday, the official Harmony Day, we acknowledged the elimination of racism, with many students coming together to participate in a multicultural food-tasting competition. There were two giant Swiss Toblerones given as prizes for the first 2 students to guess all the correct countries of origin.
