Catholic Identity and Mission

Ms Nicole Dudman - Director

Building Parish School Partnerships

On Tuesday 5th March Year 11 Youth Ministry students met me at St Laurence’s Church at 5pm to support the Year 3 students from St Joseph's Koumburra and St Laurence's in their First Reconciliation Ceremony.

Emily Cole, Amelia Gromtka, Caitlyn Charlton and Eleanor Pedlow greeted families as they entered the church.

Taine Lowe and Patrick Wilson ushered our families to the altar when it was their turn to present to Fr Darren/Fr Stanly for Reconciliation.

24 children from both schools made their reconciliation.  A beautiful service organised by the Religious Education Leader for both schools Mrs Catherine Riseley with the support of staff from both St Laurence’s and St Joseph’s.  Fr Stanly was most grateful and excited to see our students in attendance and thanked them for their presence.

Year 7 Welcome Mass

On the evening of Wednesday 6th March, we celebrated our new Year 7 cohort and their families at the welcome Mass.  It was a wonderful evening which finished with our Year 7 Class Captains being presented with their badges and announcing their captain’s pledge.

It was wonderful to see our two Year 7 Student Engagement Liaisons, Sarah Ellery-Burke and Tayla Gollop there to support their group and Justice Captain Coby Fowles there to represent the Student Mission Team.

As always, my thanks to Scott for his work on the sound and projections, Cate for setting up the Altar and assisting Fr Stanly and a big shout out to Beth Winterhalter and the Choir for all their efforts in practicing for the night.

Lent prayer 2024: Come, follow me:

Loving God

when our boat is rocked

on the sea of life,

by poverty, illness or disaster,

you quiet the waves,

calm the storm,

and lead us safely to shore.

When we work hard,

for our daily bread,

but at the end of the day go hungry,

you walk alongside us,

calling, "cast out your nets",

knowing there is enough for all.

When we are lost,

and uncertain of how

to make a change in our world,

your words ring out:

"Come, follow me",

guiding us to new life with you.

Lead us then, Lord, to play our part

in calming the storm

and sharing your gifts with each other,

so that all people throughout the world

may look to the future with hope.

Amen.
