Year 6 News
Anzac Day
The Day started off at 8:45 when we started to walk to Cheltenham station. It was about a half hour walk but we got there eventually and got onto the train. The train ride was about an hour, it probably felt longer for the other people in the carriage.
We arrived at Flinders St Station and started to walk to the Shrine and stopped to have recess. After our well-deserved break we set off to the Shrine. Once we got there a lady talked to us about their own experience and then told us how the day would run. In the first bit of the Shrine there were artefacts and old war suits. We interacted with many different artefacts.

On Wednesday, 24th of April, Beaumaris North Primary School commemorated Anzac Day. The teachers of the year 6 cohort wrote our scripts, then the year 6 students chose their part. Five people wrote about their relatives who fought in WW1 and WW2. The ceremony was highly successful.
Special thanks to Grant Coultman-Smith who came to speak at our assembly. Grant was a veteran in the Vietnam war. Grant has dedicated himself to supporting police officers, military veterans, and emergency service personnel, by offering guidance and supporting them with the stress and Trauma they face.

In our first two lessons we learnt 12 defining moments like Port Arthur massacre, reclaiming of Uluru, Julia Gillard and federation of the states. After that, we thought of questions that we wanted to learn about the topic we chose. Using our question that we chose, we researched the whole of the internet to find the answers. When all of year 6, finished the teachers sorted us into groups of 4-5 to show the year 3s a mini play about the defining moment we chose.

Maths In Year 6
Lately in year six we’ve been working on multiplying double digit, triple digit numbers with decimals and without on.
As you can see, we have been using vertical multiplication to work out our answers. We have also been doing a lot of decimal multiplication. We learnt that to do decimal multiplication we can just pretend the decimal is not there while we do the working out and then put the decimal point in once we have the answer.
