Catholic Identity

Prayer

Good and gracious God,

who loves and delights in all people,

we stand in awe before you,

knowing that the spark of life within each person

is the spark of your divine life.

Differences among cultures and races

are multicoloured manifestations of your light.

May our hearts and minds be open to celebrate

similarities and differences among our sisters and brothers.

Please send your healing and reconciling  Spirit in order to bind

the wounds created by racism and racial hatred,

and to promote understanding, justice, and love.

We place our hopes for racial harmony in our committed action

and in your living presence in our neighbour.

May all peoples live in peace!

Amen.

Harmony Day

On Thursday 22nd March we came together in prayer to celebrate Harmony Day.  Our Year 6 Catholic Identity Leaders lead a special liturgy celebrating multiculturalism and the successful integration of migrants into our community.

Australia is one of the most successful multicultural countries in the world and we should celebrate this and work to maintain it.

Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.

Confirmation and Eucharist Weekend

Our Confirmation/Eucharist Celebrations will be held on Saturday 22nd June and Sunday 23rd June 2024.  An information evening will be held on Wednesday 17th April at 5 pm at St Joseph's School.  If you would like your child to participate in this program could you please contact the school, if you have not already.

Project Compassion

As part of Project Compassion this term, we have been raising money to support people similar to those in the following stories.  We have a running competition to see which class will raise the most money.  Currently our Year 2s are in the lead with the most money raised - a huge amount of $170. 45  Our Year 6s are selling 'moosies' and donating their profits towards this cause, so who knows who will win by the end of next week. Our school goal was to reach $500 but we have already surpassed this goal, raising $570. 29 so far. This is such an amazing effort to all the students who donated their own money to such a worthy cause.

Crazy Sock Day was today with students wearing crazy socks and donating a gold coin towards Project Compassion. The students socks looked amazing and were a little 'crazy' along with the socks!!! Thanks once again for donations to such a worthy cause.

With the support of compassionate people like you, they are now forging a path to a better future for their families and their communities.

Ronita from the Philippines has now graduated high school and secured a job at a call centre. This job was only possible because of a certificate she gained from completing her studies.

Leaia and her family now have a water tank at their home in Samoa. She and her family now have a steady supply of clean drinking water. Next year, they will also have a toilet built, with the support of Caritas Samoa, which will further improve their health and living conditions.

Memory completed her vocational training course in carpentry and joinery. After completing a work contract at one of the largest electrical companies in Malawi, Memory now plans to return to her village and provide carpentry services to people in her community.

It’s through the generosity of people like you that we can continue to support people like Ronita, Leaia and Memory.

There is still time to donate! Together, we can help vulnerable communities face their challenges today and build a better tomorrow, for all future generations.

You can donate through Project Compassion donation boxes, online by visiting caritas.org.au/project-compassion or by calling 1800 024 413.

Could all families please bring back their Project Compassion boxes by next Wednesday 27th March 2024

Congratulations to all Year 6 students for selling 133 moosies in 15 minutes.  They were able to raise $66.50 and donate it to Project Compassion.
