“If we teach today’s students as we taught yesterday’s, we rob them of tomorrow.”

—   John Dewey

As we come to the end of Term 1, I would like to take this opportunity to commend and congratulate students on all they have accomplished. Whether it's facing challenges you previously thought were insurmountable, consistent application or achieving a personal best, it is important to acknowledge your efforts and achievements.

As we draw closer to the April holidays and we move past the Lenten season, we are reminded of the hope that underpins the foundation and ongoing faith life of the College. Hope is always forward-looking, and we encourage students, no matter how they approached Term 1 and the success they have had, to reflect on their resilience and commitment to learning. This reflection will allow students to acknowledge not only how they have approached learning so far this year, but also identify a need to apply themselves more to achieve their personal learning goals.

As our Year 12 students approach their second and final Semester of school, I would like to encourage them to continue with their studies. While it is important that the girls take a break and recharge after the Term, I’d like to urge our Year 12’s to ensure they maintain a consistent approach to revision and the patterns of study they displayed throughout Term 1. This determination to do well and resilient approach to work, will hold them in good stead for the weeks and months ahead. I would also like to encourage our Year 12 students to engage with the plethora of resources that are available to them as they complete their HSC journey. These include:

A reminder for our Year 12 students that UAC applications are now open. Year 12 students are encouraged to ensure that they are familiar with the UAC dates so that no deadlines or opportunities are missed. Key dates are available here.

Throughout April and May, UAC is hosting a series of webinars that will assist students in navigating the application process. Webinars will introduce students to participating universities, and why they should be considered for future students in 2025.

For further information regarding Careers information, I encourage students and their parents to engage with the information provided in the Careers Canvas Course.

I wish all families in the Brigidine community a happy, healthy and safe holiday.
