Today, the first Sunday after Easter, we celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday.
Divine Mercy Sunday focuses on the gift of mercy and love given through Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. As Pope John Paul II stated, “Divine Mercy reaches human beings through the heart of Christ crucified.”
Divine Mercy Sunday illuminates the depths of God's boundless love and mercy within the Catholic tradition. Inspired by Saint Faustina Kowalska's visions, it serves as a beacon of hope, emphasising the transformative power of forgiveness. This sacred observance underscores the profound truth of God's relentless compassion, transcending human frailty and sin. It stands as a testament to the enduring grace available to all, inviting believers to embrace renewal. Through this celebration, we are reminded of the infinite love that God extends to every person, offering solace, healing, and renewal.
On Holy Thursday, our community came together to commemorate Jesus's Passion, Death, and Resurrection. Led by our Year 12 Profile Captains, the community reflected on Jesus' journey from Palm Sunday to Calvary and was challenged to walk with Christ and reflect on the many values he teaches us as he makes the journey to his own death.
I express profound gratitude to the Profile Captains for their exceptional leadership during these sacred liturgies. This gratitude extends to the Brigidine Community, whose gathering was marked by a serene reverence, enveloping us in a beautiful silence as we contemplated the profound journey of Holy Week.
On Friday, we will gather as a College to celebrate our fortnightly Mass in St Anne's (onsite at Brigidine College).
You are all welcome to join us for 8:00am mass. Please be seated by 7:55am. Mass will conclude at approximately 8:30am.
We extend a warm invitation to families who are interested in exploring the Catholic faith or participating in the sacraments (Reconciliation, Confirmation & Holy Communion). If you or your family members wish to know more about the sacramental programs, I encourage you to contact me at the College or the OLSH Sacramental Coordinator (sacrament@sacredheart.org.au).
For members of the community within the OLSH Parish boundary, please find below the sacramental timeline for 2024:

Children in year 4 and above can receive their first communion after receiving their first Reconciliation.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a process, a journey of preparation (scripture reflection, prayer, and catechesis) for the unbaptised adult wishing to be initiated into the Catholic Church through the Sacraments of Initiation of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil. For the baptised Christians of another faith tradition, they will be brought into full communion with the Catholic Church through the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist.
