Primary 4

We are celebrating Primary 4’s first term together, getting to know new friends, learning our routine and expectations in the classroom. Our class consists of 6 students Mikayla, Ivy, Avah, Rigan, Micah and Ethan.

Our students display great engagement and enthusiasm in phonics, reading groups and are all showing interest in our poetry unit. We have been experimenting with a variety of poetry writing and how to make it interesting, fun and creating imagery through them. We have enjoyed our ‘shared reading’ by visiting texts and rhyming with Hairy Maclary and friends, exploring simile and metaphors with Skin like milk, Hair of Silk and inspired by our beloved Disney characters and building a range of onomatopoeias with Possum in the House, Possum Goes to School and Ruby Roars.

We are working on place value in maths this term learning how to subitise, count, identify, order and build numbers. Using maths language like before, after, more and less working towards greater than or less than. Seeing great involvement as we investigate changes between the early settlers to Australia now, and using the terms past and present in our history unit. We have been working towards building positive relationships in the health unit and PBL and is something that is incorporated through our daily peer interactions. This week we are celebrating Easter, a fun time of the year.

It has been a great start to year with lots of learning and kindness happening in the classroom.
