What's happening in the 5/6 corner?

A few weeks ago Lucas and Karly from Inform and Empower came to our school to talk to a few of our students. They came to three schools in Melbourne and our school got selected which was very exciting. It was exciting to meet them after we’ve seen them on our digital lessons over the last few years. They asked 8 students about their experiences online and what we like and don’t like about online games at the moment. They asked all of us to name a few rules we think all chat apps for kids and teens should have to keep everyone happy and safe. In the end we all talked about so many different things about online safety and had so much fun.

Mini project d'écriture

Ce trimestre, en CM2, nous avons travaillé sur les éléments d'un texte informatif. Pour cela, nous avons créé une brochure de voyage !

Le but était de faire une présentation générale d'une ville ou d'un pays. Ensuite, nous devions expliquer quoi faire, où visiter, où manger et quelles étaient les spécialités, sans oublier les infos pratiques et les logements. On pouvait aussi expliquer pourquoi on avait choisi ce pays ou cette ville, si on le souhaitait.

Avec l'aide de notre professeur, notre présentation prenait forme petit à petit. À la fin, nous avons pu rassembler tout ça sur un poster fait sur Canva, avec des photos du pays ou de la ville, et d'autres éléments pour le rendre encore plus joli et décoré.

On faisait semblant de travailler pour une agence de voyage, pour le pays de notre choix. Le but était de persuader nos camarades et notre enseignante que notre ville ou notre pays était la destination idéale !

Chloe 5C- Kyoto - J'ai choisi Kyoto car c'est une très belle ville, et le Japon est un endroit que j'adore. En plus, quand j'ai visité le Japon, je n'ai pas pu y aller, donc ça me permettait de l'explorer.

Mischa 5D - Rio de Janeiro - J'ai choisi ce pays parce qu'il offre des monuments incroyables et qu'il inclut beaucoup de points de repère. 

Lutece - Dubai - 5D

 J'ai choisi Dubaï car j'ai toujours voulu y aller et parce qu'il a un paysage unique, différent de tous les autres pays du monde.

Evan - Kuala Lumpur - 5C J'ai choisi Kuala Lumpur parce que j'y ai vécu un an et que c'était super bien. Il y a plein de choses à faire et la nourriture est super bonne. 

Valentine - Savusavu - 5C J'ai choisi Savusavu car cet endroit est magnifique et j'y suis allé plusieurs fois. C'est dans mon pays préféré : les Fidji. Je l'ai aussi choisi car la nourriture et les boissons sont délicieuses.

Elise - Singapour - 5C J'ai choisi Singapour parce que c'est un endroit magnifique. J'ai toujours voulu y aller mais je n'ai jamais pu. 

District Athetics Competition

Last week during the district level athletics carnival, many of our students went to compete there to see if we could fight for the top spots into division. As we arrived at Duncan McKinnon Reserve we all could feel the excitement, the hype and the pressure for the events that would come. When the other schools arrived we felt ready to fight for the top spots of our events but also ready to accept if we didn’t. When our students went to their events to compete, each and everyone of us were cheering as loud as we could for our friends and people we might not know, but we all loved to compete in sport because we all shared a similar passion . In the end, we came 4th overall but that did not matter because we had so much fun spending time with friends, students and teachers from our school and others

In Term 3 in the Inquiry, we have been learning about Asian Pacific Countries, what they have in relation to Australia, what life is like living in those countries, and how they prepare for natural disasters. Throughout the term, we have made lots of different presentations about Asian Pacific countries, historical natural disasters and we’ve been making “Future Breaking News” reports about upcoming projects. We’ve been having a lot of fun, being creative and learning about these countries.
