MOE’S REPORT 21/10/2025
From October 18th to November 8th, I’m staying with the Collister family. The kids' names are Abi (G6), Ruby (G3), Joshua (G1), and Nora (kinder). Thank you so much for welcoming me warmly.
🌳 Bush Lunch
On the first weekend with the Collister family, we had a bush lunch. Rachel (host mum) baked scones for us and taught me the traditional way to eat. I loved them. Aaron (host dad) cooked bacon and egg sandwiches at the public barbecue. They were perfectly done. Since Japan doesn’t have public barbecues, I thought it was a nice and casual way to have a barbecue. Nora and I played a game where we tried to balance and walk across logs, and taught each other how to say words for things around us in our languages. Then, we tried to see wild kangaroos. We couldn’t see them unfortunately, but we saw kookaburras. I’m grateful for these wonderful experiences.
🎾 Watching and Playing Sports
The Collisters each play a different sport. First, I went to watch Ruby’s tennis. I was impressed by her good backhand. Rachel also plays tennis, and she invited me to join her. I used to play soft tennis, which uses a softer rubber ball, but I haven’t played regular tennis. Compared to soft tennis, the tennis ball flew farther when I hit it, so it was a bit hard to control. Still, I felt refreshed after playing and want to play again. On the weekend, I went to watch Joshua’s basketball game. Josh made a great shot and shared a big smile with his teammates. I was so happy to see that moment. I also watched Abi’s netball game. It was my first time watching netball. I thought it would be good to include it in sports classes in Japan because netball focused on passing and positioning, and it was a non-contact sport.
🇯🇵 Our Japanese Classes
Each grade has been learning new Japanese words in a fun way. Using English words with similar sounds helped them remember how to say the Japanese ones. Students used those words really well in games and their creative activities. I would like to introduce some of the words they learned.
