Principal Address

Dear Parents,

I pray you had a good week.

Our school was absolutely buzzing this week, there was so much positive energy around the school as our students were excited to be back in their summer uniforms. I spoke to all of our students on Monday morning about enjoying each moment at school and what that looks like. I think sometimes, it can be easy for some of our students to look at certain experiences, for instance Maths, as a “boring” endeavour, however, how much richer are the experiences we have when we look at things with a growth mindset and we start to enjoy those experiences more! It’s almost like when we decide to be positive about Maths, then enjoyment flows, not the other way round. This term will go fast and in the blink of an eye 2025 will be over. Encouraging our students to find a way to enjoy new experiences is so important.

A few special mentions:

  • A special shoutout to Josh in Year 5, who identified some weeds that had popped up over the holiday period and took it upon himself to start a weeding group at lunchtime. Ella (Year 1) then brought a whole bunch of gloves, they had trowels. We had about 15 students doing weeding. What wonderful servant-hearted students we have at our school!
  • Congratulations to Olivia Godoy who went to a National Dance competition in the Gold-Coast and danced with our friends at Ignition Studio, in Condell Park. What a blessing to be able to celebrate her achievements. Photos in Student News.
  • Good luck to Toakase, who is representing our school at the NSWPSSA athletics championships on Wednesday. Having taken down the best of the best in CSSA and CIS, she is now representing us at NSWPSSA! Go well Toakase.

Our Year 5 students received notes this week outlining the process of applying for student leadership at our school. Please contact myself if you have any questions.

Building Update

As myself and the chair of the school board; Pastor Beca Tobar, communicated with you earlier this year, our plans for the proposed new building are continuing to progress. We have received an approval for a Development Application from Canterbury Bankstown Council. We were hoping to start building early next year, however, the process has taken longer than anticipated. We are anticipating a starting build time of Term 2, 2026, with our new building being ready by the beginning of 2027 (all things going well). However, as the school is located on a state significant heritage site, we are still waiting for approval from Heritage NSW. When the final approval arrives, we will communicate in more detail our plans and action points. More importantly, for all of us, how this will affect operations for 2026 and the school site. Please rest assured we have a number of contingencies, and all of our students will be learning in appropriate classrooms and will share concrete plans once we have "final approval". Please see a reminder of some photos of the proposed building.
