Year 9 Textile
Year 9 Fashion students developed their design and production skills last Term. They explored designing for a real design scenario and design competition called Wool4School. Students followed a real Design Brief and highlighted the Constraints and Considerations. They gained an understanding of the Design Process through the creation of a Mood Board, Creative Statement, End User Profile and Fashion Illustration.
Additionally, they used the Sewing Machine to create a Layered Applique Sample where they experimented with layering old and scrap fabrics, sewing straight stitches through the layers, cutting through it except for the last fabric and finally felting the sample.
Students also redesigned an existing product and turned it into a new or improved product. Most students experimented with Denim Skirts and Jeans and incorporated hand-embroidery or machine sewing.
Looking forward to seeing what Year 9 Fashion students will do next!
