Student Wellbeing

SWPBS - Parent Feedback Focus Group

A safe and happy school community is a huge driver of student learning. We are proud of our students, staff and families and the way we create this environment and see the School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework as a catalyst of this. The approach helps us create a positive, consistent, and inclusive environment where every student can thrive. Through SWPBS, we explicitly teach, model and celebrate the behaviours that help our students be their best, both inside and outside the classroom.

A key part of our approach is the 4:1 feedback model – for every correction or reminder, we aim to provide at least four positive acknowledgements. This helps reinforce great choices, builds confidence, and encourages students to continue demonstrating positive behaviour. It’s a simple but powerful way to promote a culture where kindness, effort, and respect are recognised and valued. We use our whole-school Gazillions reward system to celebrate these behaviours.

At Greenhills, our focus is on the following core principles:

We are connected – Being connected means building strong relationships within our school community, encouraging cooperation, and fostering a sense of belonging.

We are responsible – Responsibility is emphasised by teaching students to take ownership of their actions, make positive choices, and contribute to a respectful and productive learning environment.

We are safe – Ensuring safety involves creating a secure and supportive atmosphere where students feel protected and valued.

We have developed a SWPBS Behaviour Matrix (see below) that outlines what these expectations look like in different areas of our school. To ensure it truly reflects our community’s voice, we are inviting parents and carers to take part in a focus group to share feedback, ideas and suggestions. We welcome your input and are open to making changes, improvements, and additions as we continue to strengthen our approach. Together, we can make Greenhills an even more positive and connected place to learn and grow.

If you are available to attend the focus group session and give some feedback on Thursday 16th October at 3pm, we would appreciate it. We invite you to come up to the staffroom for a cup of tea and a chat with the leadership team.
