Mr Denholm Pickering

By the time this newsletter comes out, those studying Year 12 subjects will be almost finished their exams – in fact, the majority will be done already. The whole senior team is sending you great study vibes if you are still going, and congratulations if you are done!

Year 12 Graduation

Year 12 Graduation will be held on Friday the 28th at the Kingston City Hall. The ceremony will start at 6pm and we advise arriving by 5:30 to ensure prompt seating.

Year 12 Celebration Day

The Year 12s spent their last official day at school in celebration mode at having successfully completed their Victorian schooling. Though many still had exams yet to come, the celebration day was an important moment for students (and staff!) to stop and reflect on what they have accomplished so far.

It was also a great, final opportunity to strengthen connections within the Westall school community. Students spent this time signing shirts, eating food that was delicious and contained absolutely zero nutritional value and saying goodbyes via an assembly that was honouring and funny.

Year 11 Mock Interviews

Similar to the Year 12 event, VM and VPC students in Year 11 completed mock interviews earlier this term to simulate entering the workforce. Congratulations to all who were involved in supporting students to prepare for life outside and after school!

Year 11 Exams Schedule

In Week 8, Year 11s will complete trial exams. These will be marked and placed on end of year reports. A schedule is available on Compass and Teams.

Year 11 SWL (Structured Workplace Learning)

All year 11 students will be completing 2 weeks of SWL from the 17th of November to the 28th of November. Staff will be visiting all students on work placement.

VCE  Vocational Major Showcase

Our VCE Vocational Major (VM) students proudly presented their learning journeys at the annual VM Showcase in October. The event highlighted the incredible range of projects our students have completed throughout the year, demonstrating their creativity, teamwork, and practical skills developed through the applied learning program.

From designing tiny houses and planning community events to exploring personal finances and workplace mathematics, students showcased how their learning connects directly to real-world contexts. Families, staff, and peers were invited to walk through displays, view presentations, and speak with students about their experiences in the VM program.

A huge thank you to all the staff who supported students in preparing for the showcase, and to our visitors who came along to celebrate their achievements. The showcase was a wonderful reminder of the value of applied learning and the diverse pathways available to our senior students.

Congratulations to all VM students on an outstanding year of learning and growth! The year 11 VM group has big shoes to fill!
